For general use it's wasteful. For autismal blender work or constant software compiling or other shit it's needed, sometimes they have even more.

Also don't forget not all RAM is created equal. 64GB of DDR2 RAM is about as useful as 8GB of DDR4

you're going to run out of cpu power much faster than free ram in both of the usecases
