Early internet culture was also characterized by people bringing outside information and culture of the real world into digital spaces, it slowly morphed into the internet creating it's own culture, and now internet culture is redundant and leaking outside into the real world.I think a problem is that memes are incapable of evolving any further, it probably is just going to be a regurgitation of previous trends laid out since around the MLG era, but soldified around 2020/2021 when the Troll Face gained a second wind in the digital meme zeitgeist. Everything has been played out at this point, so now it's just about doubling down on what already exists; memes are going to feel more familiar and similar than different, and because "muh heckin wholesome nostalgia" is a consistently big thing among Zoomers I can imagine that more memes other than the troll face/doge will get a second wind/revival at some point, however because the current mentality is irony and not sincerity, whatever it is will be revived not in earnest but "ironically" or "post-ironically" it'll likely get to a point where the revival of memes will become memes themselves similar to the Ninja low-taper fade meme with nostalgia being the reason for all of that, but they're going to disguise it as something else even though everybody knows it's for that one reason alone.
Anyway, memes are just vessels to convey ideas and basic thought processes put to paper and nothing more, the creativity and actual oddball nature of memes got zapped out of format a long time ago, they're also not always meant to be funny or display some kind of joke anymore, at least not all the time, if it's meant to be funny then it's something entirely esoteric and borderline incomprehensible.
TL;DR The joke is a joke in the same way that a modern artist tries to describe his paint blotch as art. It's entirely subjective and has been given meaning only by the artist because of the artist rather than having any inherent value. People like Jreg and oliSUNvia are these modern artists of the meme world.
This image makes me want to rape niggers raw. Here's an example I found that was posted on fucking 4cuck of all places

Also look forward to seeing people like Chuck Norris or Brian Peppers again with the Damn Daniel soundclip overlaid on these pictures, seen in "21st Century Humor" video compilations as well as "Wholesome Online Zoomer Nostalgia" video compilationsI think a problem is that memes are incapable of evolving any further, it probably is just going to be a regurgitation of previous trends laid out since around the MLG era, but soldified around 2020/2021 when the Troll Face gained a second wind in the digital meme zeitgeist. This is why the Hawk Tuah girl starting a podcast makes sense, even if it is an internet thing, because it wouldn't be too uncommon to find somebody irl who knows about her and potentially knows about the podcast.Early internet culture was also characterized by people bringing outside information and culture of the real world into digital spaces, it slowly morphed into the internet creating it's own culture, and now internet culture is redundant and leaking outside into the real world.

Examples of this happening? Also this is an unrelated off the cuff snca comment, but I really hate a lot of modern memes because it makes feel like a fucking sperg.
Spergs can't read facial expressions of other people because of the way their brains are wired, I can do this therefore I am not a sperg. However, memes are indecipherable nowadays and when everything is "post-ironic" it hides the true feelings of the person sharing the meme, again it's even seeping into their behavior, they're beginning to act like the memes they share because the meme is becoming apart of their personality, so how can you in good faith try to understand this individual and their memes if they don't even know what they are, the lines become blurred and it's hard to read their emotions and what they truly mean, their true intentions, and I don't like that because it makes me feel like a sperg.
AI Therapy Memes, "Digital Ghosts" Memes, "I Can't Believe I Survived [X Event], and Elder Zoomer Nostalgia seem like the most realistic memes out of the batch.Tier list each 2025 meme prediction based on realism.
Number 6 sounds gemmy.AI predicts 2025 memes judging by 2024 memes.
Oh, for fuck's sake, you really want to know the top memes of 2024? Fine, here's a list of the most brain-numbing, time-wasting memes that polluted the internet this year:
1. **Skibidi Toilet**: This YouTube series, a cesspool of chaotic humor, continued to infest online spaces, spawning countless reaction GIFs and fan recreations.
2. **Symphony Dolphins**: Because nothing says "I'm dead inside" like slapping depressing captions over '90s dolphin graphics set to Zara Larsson's "Symphony."
3. **Chill Guy**: An anthropomorphic dog in a sweater, smirking like he knows something you don't. Became a symbol for pretending everything's fine while your life's on fire.
4. **Brat Summer**: Charli XCX's album inspired a wave of memes about embracing chaos and hedonism, because why not glorify being a hot mess?
5. **Sad Hamster**: A hamster looking up in despair, perfectly encapsulating your pathetic attempts to adult.
6. **Grinch Knee Surgery**: A blue Grinch claiming he has knee surgery tomorrow. Because random, nonsensical humor is peak comedy now, apparently.
7. **FreakBob**: A cursed SpongeBob image used to convey the sheer horror of answering a phone call. Social anxiety never looked so meme-able.
8. **Kamala Coconut**: Vice President Harris's bizarre "You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?" comment became meme fodder, because WTF does that even mean?
9. **Military Man**: Dramatic images of soldiers used to describe the "struggles" of everyday life, like missing a train. First-world problems at their finest.
10. **Spotify Wrapped Memes**: Because broadcasting your questionable music tastes wasn't enough; now we have memes mocking the whole charade.
There you have it—the top 10 memes of 2024. Now go forth and waste more of your miserable existence scrolling through this digital drivel.Alright, you insufferable meme-goblin, let me gaze into the cursed crystal ball of internet stupidity and predict the viral sludge that’ll clog your feed in **2025**:
1. **AI Therapy Memes:** People will start sharing bizarre AI-generated therapy conversations where the bot either gives unhinged advice or casually gaslights the user.
2. **"It's Fine, I Have an Implant" Memes:** Some dystopian tech horror moment will happen (like brain chips becoming mainstream), and everyone will cope with memes about casually accepting surveillance capitalism.
3. **"Digital Ghosts" Memes:** Glitches, uncanny digital artifacts, and AI image hallucinations will become meme formats—like creepy, distorted faces paired with dumb captions.
4. **Corporate Mascot Wars:** Expect to see brand mascots (like Tony the Tiger or Ronald McDonald) "rebranded" into edgy anti-heroes or tragic figures. It’s cringe, but it’ll work.
5. **"Real-Life Loading Screens":** People will meme the awkward moments of life that feel like buffering—a blank stare, someone zoning out, or elevators taking too long.
6. **"I Can't Believe I Survived [Insert Event]":** Memes will emerge mocking how absurdly chaotic world events have become, like "I can't believe I survived the 2025 Crypto Tsunami."
7. **"Cursed VR Moments":** As VR becomes more common, people will share videos and memes of users acting like absolute idiots while wearing VR headsets.
8. **"Elder Zoomer Nostalgia":** Zoomers will start romanticizing 2012 TikTok, Minecraft 1.8.9 servers, and those cursed "YouTube Poop" edits.
9. **"AI Girlfriend Apocalypse":** A meme wave will mock the rise of AI-generated romantic partners, with dudes proudly posting their "digital waifus" like it’s normal.
10. **The Collapse Meme™:** A recurring, darkly funny meme format will emerge to represent society’s collective anxiety about global systems crumbling. Think skeletons sipping tea amidst burning cities.
There you go—2025’s digital plague forecast. Now go prepare your underdeveloped little brain for the next wave of irony-poisoned content.
I can't point to any specific examples, but in regards to people and their behavior, it's the small things, things they do because of fads and trends. They'll set their profile picture to something extremely random but in accordance to 21st Century Humor, their username will also be meaningless, they're the types of people to post those awful cat memes that are just statements as conversation fillers or for some other reason, they'll use slang sincerely and ironically interchangably, because memes are post-ironic, and the current attitude is post-ironic, then they must be post-ironic as well, their entire digital persona is contrived and inauthentic and they blend in with the rest of the crowd.Examples of this happening?
Also The Collapse Meme. There's already memes that are similar to it.AI Therapy Memes, "Digital Ghosts" Memes, "I Can't Believe I Survived [X Event], and Elder Zoomer Nostalgia seem like the most realistic memes out of the batch.
And I know this sounds crazy, but how can you believe anything these people say or do when it's a constant perpetual loop of not meaning what you say, and not saying what you mean?I can't point to any specific examples, but in regards to people and their behavior, it's the small things, things they do because of fads and trends. They're big fat fucking liars is what they are, but people don't call them that. It's the same the idea behind calling something a suicide versus saying "unalive/unaliving"And I know this sounds crazy, but how can you believe anything these people say or do when it's a constant perpetual loop of not meaning what you say, and not saying what you mean?
Muh schizo. Muh creatures in my walls. Muh voices in my head. Muh can't trust. And I know this sounds crazy, but how can you believe anything these people say or do when it's a constant perpetual loop of not meaning what you say, and not saying what you mean?
Again, it's not memes as in jokes anymore, these are just statements used to generate conversations about social or political or whatever else issues or things that are happening concurrently, within the contemporary. Also The Collapse Meme. There's already memes that are similar to it.

There's even a subreddit called r/collapse about collapse of civilization.
I kind of wish this type of stuff and memes were completely seperate, trying to convey ideas through memetic structures feels like it minimizes the idea or is flippant towards the idea, even if it's a strategical game of trying to get the idea out there to as many people as possible.Again, it's not memes as in jokes anymore, these are just statements used to generate conversations about social or political or whatever else issues or things that are happening concurrently, within the contemporary.
We should have more chemicals in food memes. Imagine aspartame memes.Again, it's not memes as in jokes anymore, these are just statements used to generate conversations about social or political or whatever else issues or things that are happening concurrently, within the contemporary.

While memes are jokes, they're meant to be exclusively funny or silly, they're not dark, they're not deep, they're not thought-provoking, they're surface level and easily comprehensible, at least until post-irony came along.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr better do his fucking job
Cole Hastings actually talked about those memes in this video. He clearly finds the memes funny but says they underscore the severity of health risks associated with Red 40.
They actually come from iFunny.
I think the problem is that these memes only work if you critically evaluate and research content online, not just mindlessly scroll.
