I disagree, it's the way people think and the current mindset, has nothing to do with the way the internet is structured, there's an overarching expectation to conform to perceive things in a certain way and condition yourself, it's essentially just fads and trends. Sincerity is out, post-irony is in. Then post-irony will be out, and something else comes in, or sincerity comes back in, the current "mood" and "vibe" dictates the current mindset.
It's as overrated as the waterphone sound effect.
I hate post-irony so fucking much, people would rather hide their true feelings behind a gorillion layers of shit so you'll never know what they're actually thinking or feeling, it's not even just the memes anymore, it's seeping into their actual behavior and the way they act. Completely unrelated but I hate modern cat memes. They fall into the same layer of post-irony because the creator knows cat memes are kind of outdated in the modern Internet, yet they still try to revive its dead corpse by adding 3 quintillion layers of unnecessary vocabulary, slang etc. to make it more "funny" and more in line with other memes. Cats are cute. But these memes suck and everytime I see a cat on the Internet I just start getting angry
