In what world is india more likely to be a superpower than china? China is an authoritarian state with heavy state control over their economy, just like japan, south korea, taiwan and singapore were when they became developed. Meanwhile, india is a democratic (on paper at least) state, just like brazil and turkey, two states who notably didnt become rich, that is completely incapable of exercising control over any part of society (for example, the government has so little faith in their police force that they arenโt allowed to arrest women at night), this means that unlike china who received billions in foreign investment as soon as it opened up in the 90s, india will never be stable enough to receive that since no businessman in their right mind would invest in a poverty stricken shithole that will never be capable of building infrastructure to the same degree china did.

China is the only legitimate threat to the west, india will always be a poor state. China and india are the 2000s version of what america and brazil were in the 1800s. They are two states who originally had basically the same potential to become superpowers, yet only one of them actually succeeded while the other one never became anything more than a regional power.
