This is probably bullshit but I've heard that they perceive "gender" and "self identity" different compared to people without autism, but combine this is with LGBTQ+ being mainstream and grooming teenagers who are just going through puberty, mentally vulnerable people, and people who are confused, among other demographics, you're fucked if you're an autist in 2024.

To me it's less the kid being autistic (which we don't even know) and more it being a kid at all.
