I don't see why so many people seem to be so passionate about this war especially in their support of Ukraine. Other wars around the world don't seem much too important to anyone in West Europe and North America except this one and the one in Israel even though they're about as foreign and have as much personal affect as any other war currently ongoing.

They are favoring the schismatic "Orthodox Church of Ukraine" over the canonical one which is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. They've been cracking down on the latter for at least a year now. There are reports of priests getting beaten on the streets, monasteries getting forcefully closed, church higher ups getting imprisoned and much more. I consider it the duty of any proper Orthodox Christian to be pro-Russia at this point.
