i know, but i am of mesoamerican stock. we don't really have a reason to celebrate. i mean, the food is nice and i get an excuse to put on a few pounds but other than that and family, i got no other reason.

Well, if nothing else, you can use it as a time to give thanks and be grateful for what the Almighty has provided you with this past year, and to gather with your family and spend time with them, of course. That'd be enough reason for me to partake in it.
