I've been using Chromebooks since 2013 when I was in the fifth grade
My favorite feature about them was always how they started off pretty lassiez-faire, you could sort of do whatever you want as long as you're not watching porn or anything so retarded, only for the school to make them more and more no fun allowed in about every way possible as well as giving us slower and slower laptops as well
Then COVID happened and then our Chromebooks became paperweights in the literal definition as well lol

schools really became so cucked. at my school they started (albeit not the greatest) enforcing a policy not letting people bring their own personal devices like laptops because of them use chatgpt. funny thing is they're so retarded they don't even know it's also on mobile too

My school had that policy too (mainly because you could circumvent the 6 gorillion web filters they'd put on), however when I returned in-person for my final quarter of senior year I realized no one followed that rule anymore so I just brought my own laptop
Like three days before the end of the school year my AP Econ teacher started seething over that, I should've told him to fuck off and that he should've raised that problem a long time ago if he cared

my school is rather weird with it's filtering. mainly because it has 2 wifi connections for it. one for the mainly school computers (chromebooks) and one for students, like with personal devices and such. weirdly, the student wifi has very little filtering. only think i found to be filtered was the download for soulseek, but not the website itself to go and download it. i don't even think the sparty is filtered on it and it's filtered on the school computer wifi
