My perception of the retard react is similar to how ESL or Dislike might be used by others: to represent something that could be said by either a 7 year old or a 70 year old, has nothing to do with other sites, and is relatively generic in subject. However, people will probably just use ESL whenever someone says something actually retarded both in subject and in presentation (spelling errors or excessively attempting to show emotion online in a non-humorous way) because ESL is a meme.
