These days I don't have that much time to read so I just read the Holy Bible and whatever book I need to read for work.

serious question is the Bible a fun book to read for the story along with all of the religious stuff
i remember reading parts of the old testament in second grade and the part where God made it rain sulfur on a city was... interesting to say the least
i might be remembering it wrong

I wouldn't say that it is fun but for me is a special feeling when reading it.

The bible is supposed to be a historical record, I guess that's how you'd say it. If it's "interesting" at times that's just because history is interesting O algo
i see
i was always an autist who would only read nonfiction or at least realistic fiction stuff as a kid so thats why i was wondering
ive noticed that a lot of Christians don't read it often because it's "boring" even despite it being holy and all of that
or if they do they only get attached to specific verses and stuff

To me, the entire concept of "a verse a day" and other lazy habits have been a great factor in shattering the importance of the faith within so many people's lives. How is someone to satiate their lungs with air when they barely open their mouth to breathe? My dad didn't even know who Paul the Apostle was until I explained what an epistle was to him a few months ago. It's the same reason for why so many Christians, especially in the "simple" parts of places like America, think that the modern State of Israel is in holy scripture. "B-buh... the Bible says we's gots to support duh Israel! Duh Baptist pastor of our church probably thinks this too, why you's saying otherwise?" These people never learn because it's almost like they follow a whole other religion in how they "keep the faith" (if "keeping it" means loosely holding its hand as you make it follow you on your path as you keep it on a leash like a pet dog), and it pisses me off.
Sorry for the minor thread derailment, if this conversation continues I can move the posts to /dump/.

It's all true.
I won't deny that I'm not a particularly big fan of Muslims, but I guarantee that the average one living in America is far more faithful in their religion than like 85% of Christians here. I've seen the stuff you describe even in my own family and myself: we go to church a handful of times a year and pretty much just don't learn anything. It's completely out of our minds like an hour later. I feel guilty about it.
Churches in America have become "commercialized"; big, giant complexes similar to shopping malls with pastors that preach almost a sanitized and sterile version of Christianity. People just don't have spines anymore.

I started reading "The Glorious Cause" by Robert Middlekauff a month ago but I got like 30 pages in and haven't been reading lately because I'm a lazy nigger

I read the Bible during my cringe "trad" phase when I was 16 and I've forgotten most of it but there are some cool parts. The New Testament is much more interesting to read than the old one.

Art of Fermentation because I've begun picklemaxxing my life, it's so fucking easy and tasty bros you all should try it.
