Poor Moderation - Spam and usual brimstone stay up indefinitely without mass removal, moving to proper boards, etc. Bans are too light for big offenses. A QnA and guidebook would solve this, with accountability for mods and jannies. "Why didn't you move this post, dude? It is explicitly in the guidebook!" "Don't just remove the posts next time. Ban him if he keeps doing it."
Contrary to popular belief, rulecucking is not rules that are tough, concise, and fair. It is really about "hidden" rules and exceptions, which is quite the opposite.
Bad utilization of McCaptcha - NuDev kept tightening the screw until it was too harsh and intrusive. After that, he removed it from /soy/, allowing bots to rain free. The McChallenge also sucks ass and swallows.

Downtime: Not a big problem in the past. For some reason, it is now. I have no idea why. When my devices have problems, I do the old plug-out-plug-in routine, and it's always resolved in less than 10 minutes. The simplest fix would be backup servers, but it requires monetary investment for a low payoff.

Lately I saw some chud spamming multiple threads with "poopson" or crazyjak. I think this practice can (at least partially) return the lost spirit of the party.

PS: I mean it can scare potential nu-teens and thus filter them from newGODs who would stay.

They dont delete or combat spam anymore so any worthwhile threads get buried under low quality "shitposts" that are more like spam than an actual worthwhile post. Scared most of the good posters off because good posts get buried under bait and spam after like 5 replies.
Also people being allowed to spam threads they don't like with incredibly long strands of nonsense such as dotspam, copypaste after highlighting the entire thread/index spam, and glowing chinese text. These spams quickly and easily kill threads, as the spammer will post the same spam in the thread dozens of times, and each indvidual post needs to be hidden manually. Usually these spam posts are several pages long. Its funny because dotspam was a huge problem and was banned some time ago, but these other spams that serve the exact same purpose are untouched.

In short the sharty is a horrible environment for actual gems because it prioritizes being a spam website over a gem website.
