First of all i dont care about replacing meat with bugs or what ever i am talking about just eating bugs.
I genuinly do not understand why people think it is discusting.
Cows and other farm animals spend their lives walking on feces covered floors/pastures eating what ever the fuck we can feed them at the lowest cost (madcow disease reference).
Insects are made to safely process decomposing organic materials. Cows litterally throwup their food then eat it again kuz their stomachs are made to eat bacteria that eat the organic matter not the organic matter itself.
In general most foods come from discusting processes and we should not single out insects as le evil jooish invention or a messiah here to save our mcdonald filled stomachs.

you can't exactly farm bugs in an 18th-century rural village. even once you get the bugs, you need to do a lot of processing to make ze cricket flour or whatever. my understanding is the doodoo inside the bugs needs to be removed before they're edible, not the easiest to do by hand. also once you do get the bugs cleaned and processed, they tend to not really have a strong flavor of their own, so they end up taking on the flavor of whatever you cooked them in.
so, because of this, eating ze bugs is inherently an ultraprocessed food
thats why a lot of the "bug based" shit advertised at hipsters and san franciscoids tends to be separated by quite a few refining steps from the bugs themselves, and gutloaded with corn syrup, soy, food coloring, and other weird poisonous shit as well

you can eat bugs but meat and even plants are much better then bugs cleaner too since bugs can carry bad diseases like malaria and etc also I think plants and meat are even more nutritious then bugs

As i said im not pro bugs i understand it is'nt a economically viable food source just felt we demonize them too much by calling them discusting. Personally i would not touch that hipster shit but when i go to the insectarium in montreal i enjoy grabbing novelty bug snacks.
