Also, it works well on really old hardware especially if you do something like a properly optimized Gentoo installation, rather than just installing Linux Mint. I've seen people get Linux running well on devices with less than 500MB of RAM and all sorts of other rather poor specs. Usually Gentoo, Arch, or Void Linux is ran on slower devices, with the occasional Linux From Scratch user, since you get a lot more customization that way and start off with no or less bloat.
