You could argue lockpicks are stealthy and the owner wouldn't know someone got through until they realize something is missing

That's the one application I see at least, if you wanna have your crime go undetected for a while. Maybe even forever, I'm not saying lockpicking never happens because it has its place in the crime meta for sure its just not what's gonna happen 9/10.
