Shit No One Cares About Should I buy a handheld?

SNOCA is the superior and schlog endorsed version of SNCA. It is grammatically consistent and shlog-user preferred.

I have a steam deck but I've been thinking of getting a vita or psp or new 3ds xl or something and jailbreaking it. I want something I can just fit in my pocket (I keep my steam deck in my backpack). I just want something quick that i can have on me that isn't mobileslop, I'm also thinking of going back to a dumbphone and getting a flac player since that's all my samsung does anyway.

I'm just keeping it for the day I'll have to play MGS 4 since emulation is still rough and now I own most of the games I played on it as a kid on steam anyway (lego pirates of the caribbean, far cry 3, lego hobbit). Idk if I should get a ps1 or ps2 for the other games though. I do know that I'll need a ps2 controller for 2 and 3 doe because they just had to add analog buttons.
These days, the only reason I don't play on PC is because I found it cheaper to just mod and pirate on my consoles than to build a proper gaming PC. Mostly because I already had a ton of the hardware sitting around which I often obtained for free (from family or frens who didn't want it) or cheap (especially if I got it before COVID happened, or just bought it from someone who didn't know the value now). If you want to play PS2 games, then you may still want to consider a PS2 given older PS3s are not the best quality, and newer PS3s don't play all PS2 games even if you hack your system.

you should probably go for something like a retroid/ayaneo pocket if you want to have a wide emulation library. the only handheld i have is the O3DS though so idk if they are any good or not

I already have a midrange pc that can do pretty much everything I need it to. The steam deck just scratched that itch I didn't know I had for portability. It's great to have a way of playing isaac or lego games on the go. It's not pocketable though. I want something I can have in my pocket that isn't slop like subway surfers or jetpack joyride. The steam deck is less a sega game gear and more of a sega nomad if you get what I mean.
I've always wanted to play the MGS games back to back but I've never had time nor the hardware (CELL processor is obsessed). I think I'll emulate 1, 2 and 3 and find a way of connecting an original ps2 controller for 2 and 3 and get the rom for MGS 4 on my ps3 (and a controller because my dualshock 3 is dead) and I'll buy 5 and rising on steam.

Buy a dirt-cheap PSP, get an SD card adapter, homebrew and you're set. You have all the kino you will ever need on the go at all times, from movies, comics, music to games.

Buy a Vita don't listen to any of the other niggas in this thread
Vita also has native PSP backwards compatibility so it can do all the things the Vita can w/ Adrenaline (the resolution of the Vita is also exactly twice that of the PSP as well so games don't look fucked up)
