The term cracker doesn't come from whites whipping slaves as most people assume, it actually comes from the British using it to describe Irish immigrants and the origin of the word 'craic', which means in Gaelic to to speak, be loud, or to speak jokingly.
It also is the origin for the term 'wise cracker'.

Despite only making up 13 percent of the population, black men commit nearly 52% of all the murders in the United States, which is astounding when you take into consideration the fact that they make up 12-13% of the population. It gets even more astounding when you start considering the fact the bulk of black men commiting these murders are probably ages 18-40 which is probably around an estimated 6-7% of the population that means that around 7% of Americans are commiting around 50% of the murders.

Giraffes are 30 times more likely to get hit by lightning than people. True, there are only five well-documented fatal lightning strikes on giraffes between 1996 and 2010. But due to the population of the species being just 140,000 during this time, it makes for about 0.003 lightning deaths per thousand giraffes each year. This is 30 times the equivalent fatality rate for humans.

the US mint produced a test batch of aluminum cents during 1974 as the price of copper continued to rise. ultimately they decided against using aluminum for the planchets and most were destroyed, but a few made it out and are extremely valuable today. eventually the mint decided to switch to copper-plated zinc in 1982 which is still being used today

Diesel fuel is often used (in combination with corn) to attract wild pigs to bait sites in the US. The pigs like to wallow in the diesel to get crap/parasites off their bodies, and it keeps other animals away from the corn. Usually they're able to ingest small amounts of it too without getting sick.
