Google will try to sabotage this shit just because it isn't their own standard. Chrome already doesn't use JXL I think

Applecacas even got it right, Safari uses JXL
If Apple wanted to force adoption they could update all the images on Apple.com to JXL cause Safari and FireFox uses it so you can technically view apple.com on vindows/android, just not google
