I would be less strict than most people in this thread probably, but I would make sure I‘m not distant. Just being close to them. Going somewhere like a park every weekend would be a start.
I wouldn’t give my kid a proper smartphone until the age of like 8, and then only with supervision until 13. I know how much the Internet ruins people.
I would never hit my child or scream at them.
