How long did it take for you to learn how to ride a bike?

I live in an area where the closest stores aren't the most accessible by foot (walking to the shopping center takes 35 minutes according to Google), but I could probably halve that time with a bike. I never really learned how to do it as a kid though. Wouldn't need to invest a lot of money because my father has a decent one in the garage and I'm only a few inches shorter than him.

Getting a car is obviously still the goal, but I'm really nervous about driving and kinda scared to take the license test.
It's probably going to be temporary.
