Customizable User Backgrounds / Music

Given that Schlog+ has recently soiled the bed, I was wondering if such customisation features could be offered natively for people with accounts older than one month.
I enjoyed the personalization, and I hope to see it moved to the main site rather than bound to an extension, particularly one as dubious.
