‘I won’t regret this’: young women turn to sterilization as Trump intensifies war on reproductive rights

It's so hard to get, a good friend on mine is trying to get it for months now and fucking hell the doctors always says "what if you want to get pregnant in 10 years" and "come back when you'll be 35 or 40" like if she was gonna want children.. SHE NEVER WANTED TO. And even then, why do they care??

What's interesting is that the doctors never mention adoption to patients when they mention changing their minds about having kids. They say, "What if you want to get pregnant?" If they wanted to get pregnant, then they wouldn't want to be sterilized. They need to stop with the "Oh, you'll change your mind" bullshit. We're not waking up one day and deciding that we don't want to have biological kids. This is years of realizing that it's not something we'd ever want. Or also because of severe period pain and relating issues.

The worst thing about it is how my friend has a genetic disease that disturb a lot her hormones, she has to take drugs otherwise she sleeps 18 to 20 hours per day, she has massive mood swings, she doesn't eat etc. If she gets pregnant her condition might kill her and that's the least of what could happen. It's recommended for her to always be on birth control to make sure she doesn't get pregnant easily. They still doesn't want her to get sterilized...

Things like this are complete bullshit. I'm not saying that what you're telling me is false. But, it's stupid that doctors leave the parts there knowing that something could go wrong. Not to mention how much pain they leave their patients in. It's like knowing your car tire has a hole in it and it could go flat at any moment.

Yes, reminds me a video I saw of a girl on tiktok yelling and crying because she has the suicide pain (yk the extreme chronic cluster headaches where people who has it frequently commit suicide by banging their heads on hard stuff trying to make it stop) and can't take the medication making it less painful because it could cause birth defects, she doesn't ever want to have kids and take the risk of them getting those headaches but also because there's other genetic diseases like high blood pressure that she doesn't want to pass on to their children..
