What does it mean to be hit on the cheek? Is it a fatal blow? Does it hurt your body or does it hurt your ego? Christ doesn't say "If someone stabs you in the gut turn him your back as well".

I'm glad you brought that up because I was going to elaborate on that in the line "Maybe we really were better off when the commoners couldn't read the Bible"
A lot of uninformed retards today don't understand what the bible is and take it as an instruction manual, curtesy of protestants. The Bible is a collection of historical documents written by people in a certain context. A lot of it was written for specific groups to read, not for 21st century 90iq redditor to read. That's not to say people shouldn't read the bible, but should read it with the understanding that it wasn't written for them specifically. But to most people the Bible acts as the only source for Christianity (instead of being the other way around) which leads a lot of retards to disregard Christianity because we have a bad "instruction manual" when it is in fact not an instruction manual. The teachings of the Church are preserved within the Church perfectly, and defined clearly and any confusing can be easily cleared up by a clergy, it's your fault that you thought you could just extrapolate the whole religion from a compilation of divinely inspired writings.
