Apparently it wasn't even because 'Massa wasn't making enough money from it, as he intentionally didn't make any merchandise for it. I guess he just suffered from burnout as well as low self esteem. I wonder if he'll ever make another cartoon long into the future.

I will say for a Dutch cartoon that was never supposed to get popular outside of it's initial region, that is relatively impressive. It's not like it was something from the United States, Canada or even the UK.
Although I guess it's not that big of a deal since that "Glitch" studio is based in Australia and when was the last time you heard of an Australian cartoon or show? web-series or otherwise?

I'm not that keen on Skibidi Toilet just because I don't really understand it, but I do like how the guy who made it had a stupid idea and ran with it, taking something that's absurd and literally a fucking shitpost and then turning it into the insane battlebot robot war thing while still keeping the absurd aspects (giant heads in toilets with machine guns and lazer eyes) so that it doesn't drift too far away from the initial tone it set up.


Just that in itself is fascinating, and I kinda do hope to see more batshit animations in the future where it's just some eccentric dude running with a shitpost-y or loony idea and taking it as far as he can go.

It started as a shitpost but the guy kept making them until they became mecha kino. Though even the shitpost episodes are better than 'zellig (yes im obsessed)

IIRC wasn't Glitch started by the guys who made SMG4? That probably explains they became so popular, they already had a very large fanbase to build off of.
